FIFA World Cup Qatari Qualifiers: Brazil vs Uruguay Schedule

The first round of qualifying games continues with 16 groups across five rounds. Teams in each group will play against another team once per week until they reach the final match. It will take place over eight days before the semi-finals which will occur the following day. After all, the games have ended, the top nine finishers will progress into the knockout stages where they will play one each from Group A and Group B. Once the quarter-final stage has been completed, a final is held to decide the winner. This time it will be another six matches involving 12 teams. During the opening phase of the qualifiers, a total of 22 games will take place.

Brazil's qualification for the next generation World Cup

Brazil is considered a leader in the Americas region owing to its domination of continental club competitions like Copa Libertadores, Masters de Futebol, and the Brazilian U-20 Cup. These achievements made them the favorites to qualify for this edition under the current set of rules, but that was not to be, as it is now evident that an elite player like Neymar will have to shoulder the burden. However, despite losing out on both points played (4-0) and goals scored (4-0), coach Tite might find a way to get his country into the finals and even qualify for the mainstage if his preparations are not as bad as they seem to be so far. That might be achieved thanks to Kylian Mbappe who missed most of the 2020 season due to injury. He will play a crucial role in pushing his country to its best performance to date, given he has returned in better form than ever. Although, the French side may not give him enough space for his individual growth they still must do everything to avoid letting his fellow teammates down. They need to maintain their lead from last time as well to put France away from reaching the second spot.

Brazil VS Uruguay Headtohead Results | Previous meetings

The rivalry between these nations dates back to 1904. Since then the history has not been pretty for either party. At present, they face off every year but the past does not seem to be any different. There have been several previous meetings between these sides but only one can be regarded as close as both teams played each other during the 1998 World Cup campaign in the United Kingdom. Even though Rio defeated Uruguay 4-0, the outcome would not have been anything different this time around. Both the managers could hardly believe their luck after finishing on the same point table. But in the first half, the home side started brightly as they took control of the ball. It wouldn't take too much for Brazil to turn things around. Despite conceding a couple of goals early in the match, they could score on the counterattacks. Most importantly, Neymar showed why he is considered one of the greatest talents on the planet. He had put up more shots and made way more recoveries. He was dangerous from outside to inside.

Brazil v Uruguay Possible Starting XI Prediction

Brazil and Uruguay both can win against each other. One of their strengths lies in their goalkeepers, which allows them to create many openings and exploit gaps in the defense. But that doesn't mean they won't suffer because both teams rely heavily on wide midfielders like Neymar and Angel Di Maria. Also, both sides have excellent players as attackers who can carry the ball long distances and create overloads when necessary. Therefore, it is clear these two nations are not to be underestimated if they want to earn a chance for themselves to fight it out for a third-place finish in this prestigious tournament.
